Source code for Verified's open-source parts

Verified 0.1.0 (closed beta) for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows (x64). Last updated 2026-10-12.

The Verified desktop app includes open-source software. Some of it is under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), version 2.1 or later, and the voice check carries one separate program under the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2 or later. This page gives you the source code of those parts and the exact settings we built them with, so that you can study, change and rebuild them.

Every open-source part and its licence is listed inside the app. On a Mac: Verified.app, then Contents, Resources, licenses. On Windows: the resources\licenses folder inside the Verified install folder. FFMPEG-SOURCE-OFFER.txt in that folder names the files below with their SHA-256 checksums. SHA256SUMS lists the checksums of every file on this page.

The voice check's separate program (GPL)

The voice check starts one separate program, FFmpeg 8.1.1 with the x264 encoder, to cut and encode short video clips on your computer. The app does not link to it. It is licensed under the GPL version 2 or later. We did not change FFmpeg's source code. The Windows build has one change to x264, listed below. The same files are also inside the app, in the voice check's LICENSES folder.

Parts whose source comes from their own projects

FFmpeg inside Electron (Chromium's copy of FFmpeg, Electron 44.4.5), the libquadmath library from GCC (inside NumPy and SciPy), and the parts of OpenCV's own Windows FFmpeg plugin used by the face check (libvpx, aom and OpenCV 4.14.0). We are adding exact copies of these to this page. Until then, write to us and we send them.

Changing a library

You may replace an LGPL library inside Verified with your own build. Our terms do not forbid the reverse engineering needed to debug such changes.

Written offer

For at least three years after we last distribute a version of Verified, anyone can ask us for the complete source code of these parts, from this page or on a disk. We charge nothing beyond the cost of the disk and postage. Write to kowshikbhanu1000@gmail.com.
